Terms and end-user license agreement

Placeholder — no legal text yet. The EULA and the terms of use must be written by legal. The server shows the EULA in its setup step and serves nothing until it is accepted, so the text here and the version the server ships must match.

Points the EULA has to cover

Collected from the product decisions so far; this list is for legal, not the agreement itself.

  • License model: licenses per server seat in the tiers Starter (25 channels per server), Medium (50 channels, cluster) and Pro (unlimited channels, cluster); subscription term (expires_at) and the date until which updates are included (updates_until). [TODO: terms, renewal, payment]
  • Trial: 7 days, Pro features, one server, once per company e-mail domain (free-mail addresses once per address).
  • Heartbeat: every installation sends an hourly heartbeat to the license portal; accepting the EULA includes it, there is no separate opt-out (see the privacy policy for the fields).
  • Without a valid license the server runs but serves no outputs.
  • Offline licenses bound to server fingerprints, on request.
  • Resellers and sub-accounts.
  • Third-party components: the server ships with a separately built FFmpeg under the LGPL; the EULA must allow the user to replace that FFmpeg binary, and its source is available on request. License texts are installed under /usr/share/alteoxms/. [TODO: wording by legal; address for source requests]
  • [TODO: warranty, liability, governing law, place of jurisdiction]
